Over half of all the remaining standard theatre screens offer Reclined Seating (previously known as Screening Rooms) though, which is where the real issue arises.
#Irvine screenx regal update
The biggest problem here is that Regal needs to update the 21+ Recliner tickets to 2D VIP (because that's actually exactly what it is, a smaller 24 seat Private Auditorium with wait staff) and any Grand Balcony to 2D VIP (similar but in the big 400+ seat Auditorium on a Balcony). In the case of, only IMAX/3D/4DX are clearly marked for Surcharges, but Surcharges are applying to the tickets marked by Recliner Seating, 21+ and Recliner, and Grand. You should only see weird charges for Reclining Seating if your theatre, like mine, is a purchased Regal such as the Warren Theatres and charges different prices for those Auditoriums compared to your standard Auditorium. Regal Unlimited appears to just be always giving you a free 2D ticket (like purchased with 18-20k points) from Crown Club without the Surcharge on those ($1.50). From what I can tell, every Surcharge a friend of mine has seen by checking a bunch or local and other theatre's in this part of the country, is due to Regal Unlimited comping the lowest priced ticket, and charging roughly the price difference between that lowest ticket price (usually rounded up to the nearest dollar) vs the other options (IMAX/VIP 2D/ScreenX/RPX/4DX, etc).

Most Regals with Surcharges should, like /u/asweatman said, clearly mark IMAX/3D/VIP 2D/ScreenX/RPX/4DX, etc.
